The Story Behind the Wooden Lamp
1950s · My Grandfather’s Beginning
My grandfather, born in 1935, began woodworking as a teenager in a simple shed behind the house — no electricity, just hand-me-down tools and daylight.
He built whatever the family needed: stools, bedframes, even a wardrobe for my grandmother’s wedding — carved entirely by hand, without a single screw.
He never read blueprints. He trusted his hands and the wood’s rhythm.
“Wood speaks,” he’d say. “Rush it, and it splinters.”
That wardrobe still stands in our family home today — solid, smooth, and quietly alive.
1970s · My Father’s Workshop
By his teens in the 1970s, my father was learning the craft simply by watching — holding boards, sweeping shavings, sanding corners smooth. That’s how knowledge passed down in our family: not through instructions, but presence.
He later built his own corner in the garage: a bench, a few tools, and soft afternoon light. There, he made sturdy bookshelves, a desk for my mother, and eventually, a crib for me — each edge hand-sanded until baby-soft.
2016 · Carrying It Forward
I didn’t jump into woodworking right away. I grew up around it — but returned in 2016, bringing something new: LED lighting.
I began crafting wooden lamps. Not to modernize tradition, but to continue it — with clean design, solid wood, and efficient LED light. Each piece is still shaped by hand, just like before.
To me, a lamp is more than light.
It’s quiet company. A daily presence.
And if made with care, it lasts — like my grandfather’s wardrobe, or my father’s crib.
Tools Changed. Wood Didn’t.
From hand saws to power tools, the craft evolved.
But the heart of it all—solid wood—remains the same.
Three generations, one material. Always real.

Why LED1st?
We didn’t name our brand LED1st to claim we’re the first — but because we believe in putting the right things first.
First — the materials: real wood, solid and full of life.
First — the craft: 100% handmade, shaped with patience.
First — the feeling: something real, something that feels like home.
Some people find us when they’re building a new home.
Others, when they’re simply ready for a light that feels more like them.
Either way, we’re honored to be part of that moment — not just as a lamp, but as a piece of something lasting.
Our Design Philosophy
We design with simplicity in mind — not to follow trends, but to create pieces that feel timeless in your space.
Every wooden lamp has a clean silhouette—but behind that is careful attention to proportion, angles, and feel.
Our lamps aren’t made to impress. They’re made to stay — to live quietly with you, day after day.
Simple and clean design—no tricky grooves or detailed carvings that trap dust, because cleaning shouldn’t add to your stress.

Our Materials
We use real hardwood—beech, ash, walnut, and oak. Not veneer, not composite.
You can feel it in the touch, and even smell it.
What you see in the photos is exactly what you get — solid, honest wood, through and through.
We avoid knots where possible, so the grain flows naturally. That’s also why no two lamps are exactly alike.
At LED1st, a lamp is more than just lighting
— it’s our craft, our heritage, and a quiet offering from our hands to your home.
